The Role
An experienced DevOps Engineer is sought after to create and build a new team at ZA/UM. We are looking for a communicative and adaptive individual to shape the future of studio-wide support for our game project and tools teams. We would like you to take a lead in project development infrastructure and support.
The current technologies involve Plastic SCM, git, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Docker, Google Cloud, and their use in CI/CD pipelines for game code, assets, and web-based services.
Important: For this role you must be based in UK, Europe or on Universal Time Coordinated UTC +/- 2 hours
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop project and studio-wide support processes taking into account the requirements of multiple teams.
- Host discussions with stakeholders, users and management to maintain understanding of, and back-brief on, the requirements of the studio regarding product, process and technology.
- Gather requirements for, design, build, and maintain infrastructure for game development, including build systems, testing, and deployment.
- Administer version control systems and assist in managing appropriate branches, merging and permissions.
- Support scheduled automated building, testing, profiling and reporting of multiple game projects.
- Maintain cohesion and standards across the studio for version control and release management.
- Work closely with our System Administration Group, Infosec Group, and Engineering Groups to communicate the needs of the DevOps group in relation to the projects.
- Propose job roles within the DevOps group, assistant in the hiring into those roles, and management of the personnel.
- Advise on best practices and new developments in the field of DevOps.
Skills & requirements:
- Strong communication and advocacy skills, for audiences within and outside of engineering.
- A desire to build and lead your own team.
- Strong experience in CI/CD, IaC, testing, profiling and automation.
- Experienced with source control managers, automation servers, and cloud-based service providers.
- Fluent in scripting languages, such as Groovy, Python, PowerShell, Bash.
- An appreciation of process optimization.
- Administrative experience with Unix-based, Mac, and Windows operating systems.
- Experience with at least one long-term product’s full development from pre-production to post-launch.
- To have previously held, or currently hold, a Senior or Lead title in DevOps or a build team.
- 4+ years experience in software engineering.
